Former names : CAMTEL
CAMTEL is Cameroon's historic fixed-line and backbone telecom operator, created in 1998 from a merger of the ministry's own telecoms directorate and the former public operator Intelcam. Fully state-owned, it holds the national monopoly on fibre-optic infrastructure, even as its legacy fixed-line subscriber base keeps shrinking.
