Cameroon's incumbent electricity utility was renationalised between late 2025 and 2026: the State bought out British fund Actis's 51% stake (agreement signed 19 November 2025, paid 10 February 2026), raising its share to 95% (5% to employees), before a 4 May 2026 decree converted the now wholly state-owned company into the Société Camerounaise d’Électricité (SOCADEL).
