National Gendarmerie recruitment competition

The National Gendarmerie recruitment competition opens the way into the non-commissioned-officer and private gendarme corps, in the general-service and military-health options. It is run by the Ministry of Defence, alongside the army’s own recruitment competitions.

Who may sit

The non-commissioned-officer competition is open to holders of the Baccalauréat or a pass in at least one GCE Advanced Level subject, aged 18 to 23; the military-health option requires a state nursing or medical-technician diploma.
