Creation of the office of Prime Minister and Paul Biya’s appointment

On 30 June 1975, a constitutional revision restored the office of Prime Minister within the unitary state. President Ahmadou Ahidjo appointed to it Paul Biya, then secretary-general of the presidency, who would hold the post until 1982.
