Creation of the Representative Assembly of Cameroon (ARCAM)

On 22 December 1946, France established in trust territory Cameroon the Representative Assembly of Cameroon (ARCAM), the territory's first deliberative assembly, made up of 40 members including 24 Cameroonians and 16 French representatives. It would become the Territorial Assembly of Cameroon (ATCAM) in 1952, and then the Legislative Assembly of Cameroon (ALCAM) in 1957.
