The indigénat and forced labour in French Cameroun
Although a mandated territory, French Cameroun was administered from 1924 onward like other French colonies, under the indigénat regime, which allowed administrators to punish populations without trial, and through the prestations, a labour tax imposed on adult men for infrastructure works.
