The Picot line and the provisional partition of Kamerun
In February 1916, the French diplomat Georges Picot and the British representative Lancelot Oliphant agreed in London on a provisional line dividing the former German Kamerun between their two countries. France received about four-fifths of the territory; the United Kingdom kept a narrow strip bordering Nigeria.
