Registering with the CNPS
Employers declare their business and their employees to the National Social Insurance Fund; self-employed workers can join the voluntary insurance scheme. Every insured person receives a CNPS number.

Who it concerns
Every employer with at least one employee, every employee, and self-employed or informal workers who wish to join the voluntary insurance scheme for the old-age pension.
Steps
Employer:
- File the business registration application at your local social insurance centre, or through the CFCE one-stop shop when creating the business.
- Declare each employee on hiring using the worker registration form; the CNPS assigns each one an insured number.
- Declare and pay the social contributions (old-age pension, family benefits, work injuries) every month according to the CNPS calendar.
Voluntary insured:
- Go to the social insurance centre with your identity document and proof of activity.
- Choose your contribution base within the limits set by the CNPS and pay your contributions.
Documents to provide
Employer: trade register extract or tax registration certificate, the manager's identity document, list of staff. Employee: identity document, birth certificate and, where applicable, the children's birth certificates for family benefits. The exact list is provided by the social insurance centre.
Cost and time
Registration is an administrative formality with no enrolment fee; contributions are calculated on wages at the rates set by the regulations. The rates and ceilings in force are published by the CNPS.
