December 1990 "Liberty Laws" and the legalisation of multiparty politics
On 19 December 1990, the National Assembly adopted a set of laws known as the "Liberty Laws", including Law No. 90/056 authorising political parties other than the ruling one, along with laws on freedom of social communication, freedom of association and public meetings.
