The Kamerun campaign of the First World War
From August 1914, French troops from French Equatorial Africa and then British forces seized the strategic points of German Kamerun, including Douala in September 1914. The German administration withdrew into the northern highlands, where it held out until February 1916, before its last troops took refuge in the neutral colony of Spanish Guinea.
