Handover of the Bakassi peninsula to Cameroon
On 14 August 2008, Nigeria completed the withdrawal of its troops, police and administration from the Bakassi peninsula, control of which passed to Cameroon in accordance with the 2002 ruling and the Greentree Agreement. A transitional period for civil administration continued until 2013.
